Market Making
It's not just traders taking part in Thales Parimutuel Markets. Users can also become Market Makers to take advantage of platform trading fees.
A Market Maker is a user that mints options by depositing additional sUSD into an existing market. By depositing sUSD the user grows the pool. The total size of a market is determined by how many sUSD are deposited into a pool. When a Market Maker increases the pool size of an existing pool, there is a 0.5% fee of the sUSD amount deposited that goes to the ThalesDAO.
How can I help you?

Minting Positional tokens

When a Market Maker adds to a market, both UP and DOWN tokens must be minted at the same time. You cannot mint just one side of a market. For any options market there is one orderbook for UP tokens and one for DOWN tokens. At the expiry date of a market, either the UP or DOWN tokens will be worth 1 sUSD, but never both.

Orderbooks

Any price supported by Thales adopts the 1Inch off-chain orderbook, on-chain settlement model for transactions on Ethereum. If the price of the Chainlink price feed called at the time of market expiry is greater than or equal to the strike price, the long tokens will have a claim to all of the sUSD locked in the pool.
